About Us
Call it country, jug or punk.
Call it Americana. Roots music. Maybe rock-n-roll.
Whatever you call it – roots, Americana, country jug punk – the Crowe Hollerers' music is feel-good, even when it's all about feeling bad.
Armed with guitars, kazoos and an assortment of homemade and store-bought instruments – a few of which they've Frankensteined themsevles, the Sage brothers create a sound that harkens back to the high holy days of Beale Street 1927, steeped in 1974-era CBGB and a dash of Bristol's Big Bang tossed in for good measure.
Born buskers, Luke and Blane Sage have been playing in the streets of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky – anywhere a crowd might gather – since their early high school days. A lot of times that's meant performing on the sidewalk next to the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia, trying to steal listens from the fans of the important folks actually allowed inside the building and up on the stage.
Their first studio release, Mother's Other Son, was brought to life under quarantine, thanks to the magic of Hansford Collins Jr., owner of Marion's Collins Studio LLC.
The high-octane, roots-inspired songs tell of love, loss, family and the belief that just maybe, duct tape can mend a broken heart. Upcoming singles on the debut album include “Mother's Other Son,” “Second Hand Soul” and “If I Gave You the Stars.” The album's first song, “Long Time Lost,” is featured in the film production, “Found,” directed by Abingdon's David Alford.
